Waves Weekend

Waves Weekend is a weekend long event dedicated to the entire Pepperdine and Waves community. It is action-packed and full of tradition. Alumni and families of current students reunite with their daughter or son while they meet with faculty, staff, fellow parents, and their child’s new friends.

The Challenge

Rebrand an annual weekend long event, Waves Weekend. The objective was to create theme art that captured the event’s fun, social and playful vibe. The main attraction for this event was the sunset concert that took place outside overlooking the Pacific Ocean at sunset.

The Solution

The new theme art features a flat design with minimal colors that expands upon the brands official color palette (Pantone 281 and Pantone 166). The logo features typography that is bold and dynamic. Visual interest is sprinkled along the bottom of the graphics to reference main attractions of the event.

Design Elements

Logo: A new logo was created using a single flat color. Pantone 281 was chosen to represent the brand, but also provide strong visual impact and flexibility of use in a variety of spaces across all marketing platforms.


 

Client: Caruso School of Law | Pepperdine University

Law School Annual Dinner

Caruso School of Law (CSOL) holds their 50th annual fundraising dinner where donors, alumni, faculty, and community members are invite to celebrate legal education guided by a faith-based mission, centered on lives of service. This event also celebrated the $50 million gift from Rick and Tina Caruso. This event welcomed President George W. Bush as their featured speaker to share inspiring stories.

The Challenge

Creating a brand identity that was celebratory, yet regal in nature, and still on brand for the university. The Theme art needed to feature the Caruso School of Law’s 50th anniversary logo.

The Solution

The art direction that was selected for this event featured photography as its background art. The art while abstract in nature, is a photo taken from a beach in Malibu. The beautiful blending of colors was created through a shot capturing reflecting sunlight on sand and water at sunset.

Logo Designs

Logo: A 50th anniversary logo was created to using two colors. The design features a sans serif type, minimal color palette using brand colors and incorporation of wave elements to provide unique visual interest.
